Insurance Roof Replacement with Custom Details in Summit Gray Columbus, OH
Challenge
In Columbus, OH, a homeowner filed an insurance claim due to storm-related roof damage. While the claim covered most of the replacement, the original scope excluded full decking replacement to align with budget restrictions. The roof showed aging and wear, and the homeowner was concerned about further water intrusion, especially near valleys and edges. Additionally, the family was concerned about preserving their front yard's landscaping specifically a prized weeping tree near the driveway. There was also a need for aesthetic continuity, such as painting the furnace vent to match the new roof system.
Solution
Klaus Larsen Roofing provided a tailored plan to meet both the insurance scope and the homeowner’s expectations. Deck seam taping was limited to the eaves to reduce material costs, while a signed agreement allowed for custom decking replacement if any sheathing was found to be compromised during tear-off. We used Dynasty Architectural Shingles in Summit Gray, known for durability, wind resistance up to 130 MPH, and a reinforced ArmourZone nailing strip for long-term protection. Starter shingles were installed along the entire perimeter to create a sealed base. To protect the landscaping, our crew took special care to shield the weeping tree and used the driveway for the debris trailer to avoid yard damage. Satellite dishes and brackets were removed and discarded, and the furnace vent was painted to match for a seamless finish.
