Prevent Roof Leaks with Ice & Water Shield

As winter approaches, we want to make sure you are ready for the weather ahead. Most roofs consist of plywood decking and shingles, but this can lead to a few issues.

When there is wind-driven rain – as we often have here in Ohio – water can get under the shingles easily and follow the grain of the plywood to the seams and begin to leak into your home.

At Klaus Roofing of Ohio, we use a few different solutions to combat this problem and ensure your home stays dry.

During a roof replacement, we start by ripping off the old shingles and replacing any damaged decking. Once we’ve done that, we tape the seams of the plywood as an extra level of precaution and then we install IKO Ice & Water protection.

IKO Ice & Water adheres directly to the plywood forming a protective seal, leaving no space where water can drip through. If water gets under the shingles, it’s no big deal, it will just run downhill to the gutters instead of into your home.
